Arpad Okay relentless, threatening, and goofy. the pace is a beat but the bounce is undeniably club music. this boss fight sequel to the italian dream house sound sells it by always going hard. tension in the vibe pushing up the power of the drums is something i like about og jungle and detroit house, the edge on these stompers is as just as sharp. music to juke to after you double cup Favorite track: Slow To Fall In Love.

about

From Nick James Scavo:

Since 2014, I have been listening, enjoying, and sampling music from a little known subculture of Italian electronic music called “Slowstyle.” Primarily based in Rome, the scene was centered around the "Slowstyle.it" online community founded in October, 2009 and included a crew of artists such as Andrea SD, DJ Fole, Luca Bazz, and others. “Slow Life” and “Slow to Fall in Love” are tracks that are modeled specifically after Andrea SD’s work—whose Slowstyle tracks can be difficult to find but remain as scantily played Youtube uploads and some slowstyle comps from the early 2010s. Overall, the Slowstyle sound is a contemporary outgrowth of the “Lento violento” genre—sometimes shortened to simply lento—a style of electronic dance music that developed in the late 1990s in Italy. Its name means slow (and) violent, as this style typically has a tempo between 75 and 100 BPM. It consists of a hard kick, like the ones present in hardcore, gabber, or hardstyle, but played at a very slow tempo.

These tracks are an attempt to pay homage to this music and its community in the spirit of their maxim: "Slowstyle.it brings together so many personalities involved in this kind of music coming from Italy. Within the community there is a continuous exchange of ideas and teachings with which each of us grew up together and individually and has made possible the production of music compilations. Always been our policy: Music for passion, not profession.”
